Top 10 – TV Series
In no particular order, and admittedly, with a binge-watch bias as I don’t view any regular programming in real-time on tv, here are my favorite tv series of all time.
Again, I am not saying these are the best series on TV, just my faves.
You’ll see a trend towards dark, and a pretty clear lack of comedy here. But there’s some dark comedy 🙂
Season one was just amazing. I’m not even finished watching season 2, and this still makes the list.
No one can argue this is one of the best, if not the best, series of all time. The opening five to ten minutes of the first episode grabs you like nothing else and never lets go.
Ever since “Go!” I’ve been a fan of Tim O – this character was tailor made for him. That, and the fact that my half sister has a crazy bit part in one of the episodes makes this one worth the watch. I love the villains, too.
East Bound and Down
The lead character must have been written for Danny McBride. Nothing on TV has made me laugh out loud and cringe at the same time as much as this show. I can watch it over and over.
Hell on Wheels
Not many folks I know watched this show, but the backstory of the American railroad expansion to the west overtakes what starts out as a simple revenge tale.
A dark, sexy and adult version of the comic world, JJ is a fresh twist on the genre. The villains in this one really stand out.
Conceived as a modern Greek tragedy, this series’ pursuit of the American dream puts it at the top of many lists, including my own. Some of the most memorable dialogue of any series.
Game of Thrones
George R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series backdrop for this HBO serial is epic. Read the books, they are amazing and brutal. Only so much of the story can translate in hour-long episodes, but it’s still one of the best things to watch on TV.
Wagner Moura is outstanding in the lead role, and the story is riveting.
It’s an easy pick and widely considered some of HBO’s best work. While I still prefer the Wire, this great series still deserves a mention on the list.
